Read Carina’s story and explore how she balances life and leadership with purpose.
Hi, I’m Carina
I’m based in Germany and currently lead a multifunctional team focused on communication, cross-functional projects, and internal support within Riverty’s Local Unit Germany.
I joined Riverty in 2014 as a Marketing Manager, initially covering a parental leave position. Over the years, I transitioned from industry marketing to content strategy and eventually found my professional home in Communications.
Today, I lead a team that helps our organization thrive by making direction clear, linking it to people’s day-to-day work, and driving the projects that ensure change is implemented in a way that works in practice.
A Journey of Evolution
My career at Riverty has been anything but static. Just six months into my first role, I was asked to lead the branding of a new product, a challenge that set the tone for the years to come. I’ve helped shape marketing strategies, built our first international content plan, supported C-Level positioning, and contributed to major company transformations.
This continuous growth also shaped how I returned to work after life changes. After becoming a parent of two, I returned from maternity leave each time to meaningful projects (even while working part-time).
That was only possible because I had leaders who saw my potential and supported my growth.
In 2021, I transitioned into Communications, a field I hadn’t worked in before. With the support of a manager who believed in me, I grew into the role and eventually stepped into leadership.
Flexibility That Fuels Leadership
What made this development possible is the way we work. Since 2019, I’ve worked part-time, between 60% and now 75%.
I continued to take on exciting projects and grow professionally. Riverty’s flexibility goes both ways, and the people I’ve worked with have always focused on what I deliver, not how many hours I sit at a desk.
The flexibility to choose whether to work from the office or home gave me even more freedom to shift priorities when things get tough.
It’s this trust-based flexibility that makes it possible to stay committed, lead a team, and still be present in my private life, without stepping back from responsibility or impact.
Turning Feedback into Action
This trust also encourages me to take ownership and turn ideas into concrete outcomes. One initiative I’m especially proud of is the follow-up to the 2023 employee survey in our Local Unit Germany.
Together with my team, we turned feedback into a comprehensive set of improvements: from a new internal communication structure to strategy workshops for all Consumer Operations teams.
We reshaped how we communicate, made strategy more tangible, and created formats that made people’s contributions more visible. The positive feedback and real impact this had on our teams confirmed that structured communication and the right formats can drive alignment and improve how we work together. It remains one of the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on.

Ideas That Spark Change
Looking back, I realize that seeing potential for improvement and acting on it has always been a common thread in my work.
Taking ownership means not waiting for direction, but identifying what can be improved and moving it forward. I’ve always been drawn to dynamic environments, which is why Communications feels like home. At Riverty, when I’ve had ideas and backed them up with good reasoning, I’ve been given the space to shape and build them.
That freedom is part of our culture. Of course, it also means navigating many perspectives, but if you keep the bigger picture in mind and involve the right people early, communication becomes the key to shared success.
Bridging People and Progress
As AI reshapes the FinTech landscape, I see my role in communications as a bridge, especially for our customer service teams. It’s about understanding their concerns, aligning with the company’s need to evolve, and finding thoughtful ways forward. Helping us take one step at a time toward a modern FinTech, without losing sight of the people who make the difference, is a challenge I’m proud to take on.
My Advice for Future Riverty Colleagues
You don’t need everything perfectly defined. What matters is the willingness to step into the space you’re given and fill it with your own ideas. If you stay persistent and know how to bring others on board, there are very few limits to your creativity at Riverty.
